What is the difference between Goths and Emos?

Goths go back much further than emos, as far as I know. In the form you can rocognise, goth started in the 80s as a sort of music that was not the norm. Emo is short for emotional punk. I believe they try to really live the emotions of their life, and look at the things that are unpleasant as well. The two subcultures generally don't really get along too well, and dislike being mistaken for each other. Musical wise, I find goth music to be awesome *ahem* to be more varying subjects and emo music to be more on sad thoughts and things that occur in everyday life. Goth, look up Sisters of Mercy. Emo, look up Radiohead (sorry if that one is incorrect. I wouldn't know :P) Style wise, I find emos have neon colours mixed with black, as well as generally tight pants, and goth to have many styles (perhaps the longer existence has led to this...?) but to be a bit more black, but not limited to it.
